Role: Technical Lecturer – Carpentry and Joinery
Location: Tresham College – Corby and / or Wellingborough Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary is up to £43,048* DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Technical Lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Technical Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
Teach Carpentry & Joinery – Deliver and assess courses up to Level 3 (and higher skills where appropriate), ensuring engaging and industry-standard lessons.
Lead Curriculum Development – Contribute to innovative teaching, maintain schemes of work, and support modern construction methods and technologies.
Support Student Progress – Provide mentoring, monitor performance, arrange work experience, and prepare progress reports.
Manage Course Administration – Complete registers, assessments, verification, and participate in meetings, events, and promotional activities.
Uphold College Standards – Promote safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and engage in training and development in line with TBCG policies.
About you:
Construction Expertise – Brings hands-on experience in the construction industry with Level 2 NVQ/Diploma in a relevant trade.
Safety & Compliance Knowledge – Understands safe working practices, COSHH, and health & safety requirements; committed to safeguarding and equality.
Practical & Organisational Skills – Skilled in maintaining inventories, preparing and repairing tools, and keeping accurate records with minimal supervision.
Strong Communication & Teamwork – Communicates confidently across all channels, values collaboration, and creates a welcoming environment for students.
Adaptable & Professional – Flexible with hours and travel, willing to upskill (First Aid, forklift), and consistently demonstrates professionalism and college values.

*Salary package includes base salary plus a Market Supplement of up to £10,000 per annum.
