GCB Cocoa UK is a Chocolate and Cocoa processor based in Suffolk. We are now looking for someone keen to develop their skills as a Health & Safety Professional through a Level 3 Apprenticeship while working as a Health & Safety Coordinator in our growing, state-of the art manufacturing facility.
In this role you will own record keeping and document management for the site, ensuring training records, matrices and systems are updated and records of site safety activities are maintained and available to auditors. You will support the Health & Safety Manager in delivering improvement projects and provide cover for basic queries in their absence.
Working Pattern:
09.00 - 17.00, Monday - Friday

- Support to study the Level 3 Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Technician Apprenticeship over 15 months, which provides a comprehensive introduction to Health & Safety and includes the NEBOSH General Certificate qualification.

Details of the Apprenticeship:
The apprenticeship runs for 15 months, followed by an additional three months for the End-Point Assessment (EPA), and involves approximately 400 hours of learning (around six hours per week, including a monthly six-hour workshop) with our provider, Compass. Key elements of the programme include:
- Monthly online workshops delivered by Compass and NEBOSH (via Microsoft Teams)
- Progress reviews every 10–12 weeks involving the tutor, employer, and learner
- Assignments, assessments, and workplace learning activities
Essential skills and experiences:
- Confident in using IT systems, e.g. Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to learn new systems (e.g. our safety management system, SmartLog).
- Can demonstrate experiences in basic projects and improvement activities, with experience of working to deadlines
- A minimum of 5 GCSE's at grades 9-4/A*-C (must include English and Maths)
- You must be able to travel to the site (public transport is not available)
Desirable skills and experiences:
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
In this role you will:
- Provide support to the Health & Safety Manager in ensuring the site is compliant with legal legislation and regulations.
- Carry out health and safety audits of the site and departments.
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings from shop floor to management level.
- Support in ensuring that all documentation, e.g. risk assessments and COSHH, are reviewed and updated when required.
- Track training records in SmartLog and ensure that all training is kept up to date for both health and safety and food safety compliance.
- Support in promoting a positive health and safety culture across the site.
- Provide administrative and project support to other business support departments when required, building relationships across the business to support your work.
