The Role:
Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in Adult Functional Skills English (0.6 FTE) to join our team on a fixed-term basis until the end of the academic year initially, with a start in the New Year. This is an exciting opportunity to empower adult learners by developing their core English skills, while contributing to a dynamic and supportive academic community.
This role involves delivering high-quality English provision within the community across Blackpool, Fylde, and Wyre, supporting learners from Entry Level through to Level 2. You will play a key part in helping adults build the essential skills needed for employment, further education, and increased confidence in daily life.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
As a Lecturer in Functional Skills English for Adults, your main duties will involve:
- Delivering high-quality, inclusive learning, teaching, and assessment in Functional Skills English.
- Assisting with curriculum design, development, and quality improvement to enhance the learner experience.
- Supporting student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression through targeted guidance and developmental support.
- Effectively using digital and face-to-face tools (e.g., VLE, progress tracking software, internal verification processes) to enable learner success.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in both subject content and effective teaching pedagogies.
- Contributing to the wider B&FC academic community through scholarship, research, and professional practice.
