This on-campus role based in Reading, Berkshire, UK , offers a rewarding opportunity to shape the next generation of early years educators. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, conducting impactful research, and contributing to curriculum development. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and effective lectures, seminars, and practical sessions to undergraduate and postgraduate students in Early Years Education. Develop, update, and deliver curriculum content, ensuring its relevance to current pedagogical practices and research. Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and placements, providing guidance and support. Conduct high-quality research in Early Years Education, publishing findings in reputable academic journals and presenting at conferences. Contribute to the development and strategic direction of the Early Years Education programmes. Mentor and support students, fostering their academic and professional development. Engage in external examiner roles and contribute to quality assurance processes within the department and wider university. Collaborate with colleagues on teaching, research, and administrative activities. Undertake administrative duties as required, such as module leadership and admissions. Represent the university at open days, recruitment events, and external stakeholder meetings. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of national and international developments in Early Years Education. Qualifications and Experience:
A PhD in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a closely related field. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed) or a willingness to obtain one. Significant experience of teaching and research in Early Years Education, preferably within a higher education setting. Demonstrable experience of working in and/or leading early years settings. A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in curriculum design and module leadership. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students. Proficiency in relevant educational technologies and research methodologies. A commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality in education.
