This position is based at their campus in Liverpool, Merseyside, UK . The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the strategic development of the Computer Science department. Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and inspiring lectures, seminars, and practical sessions across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate computer science modules. Develop and update curriculum content, ensuring relevance to current industry trends and academic advancements. Supervise student research projects, dissertations, and theses. Conduct independent research in a chosen area of Computer Science, publishing findings in reputable journals and presenting at conferences. Actively seek and secure external research funding. Contribute to the administrative and strategic management of the department, including committee work and programme leadership. Mentor and support students, providing academic guidance and pastoral care. Engage in outreach activities to promote computer science and the university. Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across other disciplines. Contribute to the development and enhancement of teaching quality and student experience. Maintain professional development and stay abreast of advancements in computer science and pedagogy. Participate in the recruitment and selection of academic staff and students.
Qualifications:
A PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. A strong track record of high-quality research, evidenced by publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Proven experience of delivering effective teaching at university level, with a strong understanding of pedagogical principles. Demonstrated ability to attract research funding. Expertise in at least one core area of Computer Science (e.g., Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Theoretical Computer Science). Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience of curriculum development and programme management is desirable. Ability to supervise postgraduate research students. A commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within academia. Membership in relevant professional bodies is an advantage.
