Position: Lecturer in Construction – Carpentry and Joinery
Are you passionate about Carpentry and Joinery and excited about sharing your knowledge? Whether you're an experienced educator or someone eager to transition into teaching, we're looking for individuals with a deep understanding of Carpentry and Joinery studies. As an Construction Lecturer, you'll have the chance to apply your expertise and contribute to
the growth of our students, from beginners to advanced learners. The range of qualifications includes full-time, part-time, and evening programmes, primarily C&Gs qualifications from level E3 through to level 2, aligning with our section's development plan.
What skills are we looking for:
- Carpentry and Joinery Knowledge: Strong practical understanding of Health & Safety, Construction Environment, Bricklaying and Carpentry.
- Passion for Teaching: Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and fostering student curiosity.
- Student Guidance: Supportive mentoring for students of different backgrounds and abilities.
- Collaboration: Willingness to work with colleagues to improve the motor vehicle program.
- Adaptability and Innovation: Openness to new teaching methods and staying updated with industry trends.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to manage classroom activities and materials efficiently.
- Problem-solving: Capability to analyse vehicle issues and encourage students' critical thinking.
- Interpersonal Skills: Establishing rapport with students and collaborating well with colleagues and industry partners.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver formal scheduled teaching and tutorials.
- Conduct progress reviews and student assessments.
- Manage learning programmes and curriculum development.
- Handle student admissions, induction, and educational guidance.
- Prepare learning materials and student assignments.
- Mark students’ work and examinations.
- Supervise student visit programmes.
- Engage in research and other scholarly activities.
- Participate in marketing activities and consultancy.
- Lead part-time staff and manage administrative tasks.
- Commit to personal professional development and workshop material development.
- Liaise with vocational tutors.
