About us
The Department of Anthropology at UCL is a research-led department with an international reputation, offering innovative teaching programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The department is one of only a few broad-based anthropology departments in the UK comprising five sub-sections: Evolutionary and Environmental Anthropology, Social Anthropology, Material Culture, Medical Anthropology and Public Anthropology.
About the role
We are looking to appoint a part-time Lecturer (0.2 FTE) with a strong background in Medical Anthropology. The role will be available for seven months, starting on 15 September 2025.
You will be responsible for preparing and delivering teaching materials, supervising and grading dissertations, and providing excellent academic support for students. You will collaborate closely with department members to ensure the teaching provision meets the students' requirements.

About you
You will hold a PhD in Medical Anthropology and demonstrate the ability to conduct high-quality ethnographic research, as reflected in the authorship of significant publications. You must have proven ability and experience teaching postgraduate courses at both introductory and advanced levels in Applied Medical Anthropology, along with a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in research, teaching, institutional citizenship, and/or public engagement.
