Landmarks operates from several sites across; Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, with our main site located in Eckington, S21 4EF.

Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites, including college campuses, employer’s premises or communities local to learners’ - therefore willingness to travel is essential. There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car, insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day.
Job Purpose:
Our Careers Advisor will be responsible for ensuring learners receive independent careers advice from which to inform future decisions. This postholder will be an integral addition to the information, advice and guidance team and will be required to support relevant activities to ensure learners receive high quality advice and support.
They will also work alongside colleagues within WayFinder to ensure learners on the employability Pathway identify careers which match the skills and interests they have and support learners on the remaining Pathways to consider their career plans.
Main Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not restricted to:
- Manage the provision of careers and labour market information.
- Manage the careers section of the college’s website.
- Liaise with tutors to identify learners needing guidance.
- Plan a systematic and structured careers offer to ensure that no learner is left behind.
- Provide impartial information, advice and guidance to individuals and to groups of learners in relation to all aspects of their progression planning.
- Assist learners with action planning following their careers interview.
- Work with the Curriculum Managers, Wayfinder colleagues, Tutors & Well-being and Transition Officer to develop careers related activities across the college.
- Interview learners either one to one or in small groups, recording interviews and advice given on learner action plan.
- Assist learners to draw up action plans for employment through supported internships, education and training and supporting them to achieve their goals.
- Gather information on the labour market and employment trends in order to offer up to date accurate knowledge of opportunities to support effective career guidance.
- Maintain an online Careers Library and careers resources.
- Contribute to the compilation of the college’s intended destinations data.
- Assist in the planning and organising of careers related activities in college.
- Collate evidence for maintenance of the Quality in Careers Standard Award.
- Deal with general careers related correspondence and enquiries both by telephone, letter and email.
- Word process letters and documents for internal and external use.
- Photocopy and circulate documentation to the relevant staff.
- Input relevant data onto the college’s Management Information System.
- Collate evaluations relating to WRL activities.
- Work with the Transitions Officer on the transfer and updating of data for intended destinations, references etc.
- Develop and promote FE links across the curriculum and assisting in the development of FE partnerships.
- Organise university and college visits.
- Organise people from the world of work, including employers, colleges and universities, apprenticeships to inspire learner’s post-16. This should include an impact analysis.
- Participate in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with the line manager.
