We are building a team of skilled creatives, designers, teachers, and researchers to join us in beautiful, sub-tropical, South-East China. Our academic staff have a deep understanding of subject-specific principles and their application, combined with the ability to engage and inspire students.
You will develop and deliver undergraduate units that develop student skills in design, creativity, and entrepreneurship within the creative industries. These units encourage students to develop cutting edge creative thinking skills and develop innovative design projects that actively respond to real-world problems in our changing global environment. The units also teach key principles of entrepreneurship that help students imagine and potentially realize their projects as start-up businesses.
Ideal candidates have a higher degree in relevant field related to design creativity and be able to evidence relevant experience in business and entrepreneurship. Candidates must also have professional experience of at least two consecutive years of teaching in higher education (UKHE or similar). To be considered for this role, candidates must demonstrate experience in both creative design and entrepreneurship/startups.
For example, educated designers with experience of starting businesses or teaching business-related units would be considered eligible.
You will be part of a special department at the Institute of Creativity and Innovation specializing in core skills shared by all disciplines. As such, the modules you teach allow the students to develop interdisciplinary skills that enhance their knowledge base and can be applied to a range of personal, creative and theoretical abilities. The Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) is a dual-degree institute founded by Xiamen University (XMU) and the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). We’re located on XMU’s Zhangzhou campus, which boasts a park-like atmosphere, with mountains on one side and Amoy Bay on the other. It’s a short commute to beautiful beaches, or the city of Xiamen, the multicultural center of South-East China.
