Job Description

Watertrain, part of RSK Group, is the largest provider of apprenticeships and qualifications to the water utility and due to continued growth is now looking for an Operations Manager to join their Senior Management Team in a permanent, full-time position.


The Role


Watertrain is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to help drive the business forward and achieve key performance targets where learner experience and client satisfaction are critical to the ongoing success of the business. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will lead and support the delivery team based in Warrington and oversee the effective and efficient management of all operational activities.


Key responsibilities:


  • Overarching responsibility for key deliverables of the business
  • Implement and manage processes and procedures
  • Support the Managing Director to ensure business performs in line with Budget
  • Line manage, coach and support operations and administration staff
  • Ensure the business operates in line with ESFA Funding Rules
  • Ensure the business operates in line with all relevant statutory obligations
  • Ensure all contracts for services with customers and suppliers comply
  • Support the Managing Director and Business Development with client proposals and pricing
  • Support the management and development of client relationships
  • Support the recruitment and selection process on new staff
  • Member of the Senior Leadership Team


Essential qualifications and experience:


  • Operations background in a dynamic SME business
  • Operational processes and procedures
  • Staff/team management and coaching
  • P&L/Budget


Desirable knowledge/experience:


  • Training and development
  • Apprenticeships
  • ESFA Funding
  • Ofsted EIF
  • Knowledge of sector MIS – PICS/MAYTAS


Skills/abilities:


  • Suitable IT skills- Use of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills with an ability to work effectively with employers, staff, associates and learners
  • Effective time management and able to work towards set targets and financial constraints
  • Self-motivated and disciplined
  • Clean, current driving licence
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet operational deadline
  • Smart professional appearance
  • A commitment to continuous improvements within a management role
