Post Ref: 14818. Full Time, 37 hours per week. Permanent. £27,753.45- £36,189.34 per annum.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Lecturer to join our ambitious and growing team at Sunderland College, leading and delivering on a range of Access to HE Diplomas. If you are an individual who is passionate about teaching this life changing qualification and have a strong track record of providing outstanding teaching and learning opportunities within a career focused curriculum, then this is the ideal role for you!


There are currently five Access to Higher Education Diplomas delivered across the team:


  • Access to HE Diploma Health
  • Access to HE Diploma Counselling
  • Access to HE Diploma Educational Studies
  • Access to HE Diploma Social Care Studies
  • Access to HE Diploma Law and Criminology


All learners complete ungraded units in English, Maths and Study Skills to prepare them for study at level 3 and will then complete five graded units linked to their specialist pathway. Depending on specialism the successful candidate will teach across a range of units and pathways and take the lead with the Access to HE Diploma Health and the Biology and Biochemistry Units across a number of pathways.


We are looking for someone that has a real passion for their specialist subject of a health related field, with experience of teaching Biology, and who will be enthusiastic about raising aspirations, developing confidence and encouraging students in the realisation of their ambitions to progress to Higher or Further Education. Working within a friendly, supportive and collegiate team, the successful candidate will deliver inspiring and innovative sessions to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills to progress to their next steps.


The successful candidate will have experience of internal quality assurance processes and will take a lead on IQA for at least one of the Access to HE Diplomas, depending on specialist area.


Applicants for this post should be able to demonstrate in their personal statement practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification.
