Job Title: Learning Design Team Manager


Salary: £40,000 - £53,500


Location: Cambridge, flexible working arrangements


Contract: permanent, full-time

Cambridge Online Education is seeking to hire a Learning Design Team Manager to join their adaptive learning team to support the design, development and delivery of Academic adaptive courseware products. In joining us, you will be joining a dynamic, welcoming, and creative team of online learning professionals.


You will be managing a team of learning designers in multiple locations and work with project leads closely to deliver outcomes-driven, pedagogically-robust online adaptive courseware of the highest quality through your team. The focus of your work will be leading the adaptive learning design team through large scale complex projects whilst enabling Cambridge University Press & Assessment's ambitions on adaptive courseware.

About The Role


The key purpose of this role is to provide leadership to a global team of learning designers with varied levels of experience and skills who work on large scale complex projects


  • Manage and develop a team of Learning Designers who are located globally
  • Define, communicate and monitor team goals to continuously improve and deliver high quality, impactful learning experiences at scale
  • Responsible for aligning learning design best practice to support Cambridge University Press & Assessment's adaptive learning strategy
  • Responsible for setting standards, coaching and the ongoing development capabilities within the team
  • Advise on the best approach to deliver on the high-level design considering established processes whilst remaining flexible to ensure a high-quality design delivery
  • Ensure quality assurance of learning design across adaptive learning products
  • Working with the Head of Learning Design, Head of Content Operations and other key stakeholders across Cambridge University Press & Assessment contribute to the development and improvement of processes


About You


Knowledge:


  • Qualification and a thorough knowledge of online learning design
  • Knowledge of various VLEs and associated tools (LTIs).
  • An understanding of adaptive learning principles/levels
  • A strong understanding of curriculum and the end-to-end design and development process, and a passion for learning
  • Awareness of accessibility issues and strategies to mitigate these in online learning


Skills and experience:


  • Line management experience and proven leadership ability, with a clear track record of tangible success.
  • Ability to manage team resources effectively
  • Ability to manage a broad portfolio of projects and simultaneous developments through their team
  • A successful track record of delivering multiple projects to agreed time, cost and quality parameters
  • Ability to think strategically and generate innovative ideas to moves the conversation forward
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive, productive team culture
  • Strong and confident communicator, influencer and mediator
  • Ability to resolve tension and address differences of opinion with respect, tact and humility, and to find ways of creating enriching learning experiences for students that are considered viable by all stakeholders
