The job on offer

It is an exciting time to join the Learning and Development (L&D) team in the UK as we go through significant transformation. Learning and Development is key to ensuring we can achieve our business objectives and growth ambitions. The successful candidate will deliver a leading L&D strategy that supports the UK’s business priorities, whilst aligned to the overall UK Business and Global L&D strategy. The role will be implementing learning interventions in all levels of the business, ensuring a robust L&D offering which provides personal development opportunities, is rooted in business need, and measured in line with business performance metrics.

As head of L&D UK you will be part of the Global Learning community contributing to global and regional initiatives and championing global solutions. The role will drive the wider Capgemini UK Learning and Development community where you will liaise with colleagues to share best practice and support joint programmes of delivery.

Your role

To represent L&D at a country level across all business areas.

  • Work closely with the UK Talent Director, HRDs and business leads on UK L&D strategy
  • Support a UK-wide talent development approach that is innovative, agile and delivers impact/ ROI
  • Support current and future skills development through upskilling/reskilling
  • Deliver market-leading compliant apprenticeship and grad programs that reflect our business needs and provide career progression to retain our Early & Emerging Talent
  • Manage the UK Learning Shared Service
    • Lead a team of Learning Partners who also have dotted lines into their respective SBU/GBLs
    • Lead the Early & Emerging Talent Team who manage our Apprentice and Graduate early career programmes
    • UK Talent Programme delivery, delivering talent development initiatives for Grades A-C and initiatives that are complementary to the Global D+ programmes
    • The UK Programmes Management Team – local programme delivery (facilitator management, venues booking, participants comms and engagement
  • Maintain relationship with the external vendors that support trainings and learning initiatives
    • Engage with Global Learning team as a Core LBP, working closely with Group Learning and Development teams
    • Represent UK needs, contribute and co-create solutions, share best practices
    • Promote and roll out new/existing group programs within the UK in line with business need
  • Engage and support regional L&D initiatives
    • Manage University budget, demand, and nominations from the UKBU
    • Share best practices

Your profile

We're looking for an individual that is truly passionate about learning and development and keeps a keen eye on new and evolving industry trends. Ideally CIPD qualified, you would have a solid background and proven experience of managing L&D for a large department/ business and understand how L & D can support strategic business objectives. Confidence and excellent communication skills are essential, as this role will specifically involve talking to people at all levels. You should have a proven ability to manage your own time effectively and meet tight deadlines, and a pro-active approach to challenges and problem solving. You will need an appreciation of internal processes and systems, and the development resources available across the Group, experience of Microsoft Office products would be beneficial.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, engage, communicate and ability to engage with different levels of people within the organisation
  • Able to plan and manage multiple complex workloads
  • Capable of building and developing sustainable relationships at senior management level and uses them proactively, can demonstrate strong stakeholder management.
  • Capable of giving persuasive formal presentations to management teams
  • Develops a strong personal network across the UK Business and Global Learning/HR community
  • Have sound commercial skills and understanding of IT and technical skills development
  • Quick to recognise emerging learning offerings in the market or across Capgemini
  • Can manage and operate within virtual teams, both on and offshore
  • Identifies development needs of the team and provides appropriate coaching and direction
  • Can influence and lead colleagues and clients to achieve business objectives
