Based at our Stephenson Campus

The SMB Group is a highly successful FE college, formed through the merger of Stephenson College and Brooksby Melton College. We are an innovative and highly responsive centre for education and training with campuses in Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Brooksby.

We are looking for a multiskilled trainer assessor with the ability to assess across the full range of the department's provision. On occasions there may be a requirement to deliver knowledge to students or apprentices in a workplace location. You may currently be working in an industry setting looking for your first job in teaching. You will have a passion for innovation, bringing new ideas and embedding new technologies into the learning environment.

Working as part of the Engineering team you will need a good understanding of apprenticeship standards as you will be responsible for the coordination of apprenticeship programmes. You will support the development of and the assessing of apprentices, monitoring progress and supporting employers through the process. You will possess an excellent knowledge and understanding of engineering (areas such as Electrical, mechanical, welding, design or new emerging technologies) and have industrial experience. You will need to be able to plan effectively, be agile to identify obstacles limiting achievement of apprentices with a capability of using a range of effective and appropriate teaching, learning and assessment techniques and effective communication to resolve.

As well as your relevant experience and current knowledge, you will also be willing to obtain a V1 or equivalent verifier qualification and relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent) if you do not already possess one.
