Job Description

Salary: £44,290 Location: Seevic campus, Benfleet, Essex Closing Date: 29/03/2023 Hours: 37 hours per week. 52 weeks a year Contract: Maternity Commencing: August 2023 REF: SR1264 Job Role: Raising of standards, development, performance, monitoring and maintenance of standards in the agreed subject areas to meet agreed targets. To work with the Head of Learning to lead on the development and delivery of the curriculum, ensuring a student-centred, career-focused outcome driven approach that promotes very high standards of learning, teaching and assessment and produces outstanding progress and achievement for learners. The role involves actively embedding the College’s strategic priorities, ensuring high performance and an excellent staff and student experience. The role will have a defined line management responsibility and will be accountable for the performance of all staff within the Curriculum Area. The post holder will be responsible for the management and successful delivery of all aspects of student performance, Study Programme and/or adult provision, Quality and Teaching, Learning and Assessment. THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: Full teaching qualification in line with College policy (You do not have to be a Maths or English Teacher) Evidence of continuing professional development Experience of curriculum management within FE/Sixth Form College setting Knowledge of current issues and future developments in FE and HE, relevant to the Curriculum Area Successful of track record in improving the quality of standards and teaching and learning Experience of planning and developing Study Programmes Experience of effective timetabling, deployment and utilisation of staff Successful relevant teaching experience, delivering Outstanding and Good (Grade 1 and 2) lessons in relevant teaching areas. Successful track record in improving the quality of teaching and learning in FE, Sixth Form College or School Sixth Form. Successful team worker with a track record in achieving results. Demonstrable knowledge of incorporating Equality and Diversity within the curriculum Evidence of understanding and effective implementation of safeguarding policies and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment Main Duties: Be a role model in maintaining a positive culture that embeds the College’s values and beliefs through highly effective communication processes, and ensures that learners and staff feel valued, safe, and supported. Be a role model for outstanding employability skills and practices. Represent the College positively and highly effectively in all dealings with external partners, parents, stakeholders, and agencies. Demonstrate exemplary communication practices in line with the whole College communication plan and own responsibilities and accountabilities. Ensure that individual staff and teams are supported to maximise their effectiveness through continuing professional development arising from highly effective appraisal processes. Take responsibility for own continuing professional development as agreed in the appraisal process. Participate in rigorous self-assessment of all areas within scope of the post and raise standards through pro-active quality improvement that is data driven Implement Performance Management processes effectively as required. To plan, develop and co-ordinate a range of courses in the Curriculum Area to ensure that the offer meets the needs of all learners and takes account of best practice and national developments so that students achieve their learning outcomes and progress to a positive destination, and this is to be in line with the College’s Strategic plan of Career Focused Learning.
