The Apprentice Development Advisor role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.

Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The difference our new Apprentice Development Advisor will make
As an Apprentice Development Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We have a large apprenticeship programme that covers various disciplines and we aim to offer a fully supportive environment in which our apprentices can flourish. Apprenticeships are a key factor in the future success and development of the Devonport site, this will be a critical role ensuring that our apprentices can succeed.
Day to day, you’ll have a designated caseload of Apprentices who you will support throughout the duration of their programme by managing their time and attendance, their performance, placement rotations and welfare. You will also work with line managers to ensure they understand the expectations of the apprenticeship and that they are involved in measuring and monitoring progress in conjunction with the relevant training provider. You will be involved in the recruitment and selection process of new apprentices, as well as offsite activities such as community work and the behavioural Apprentice Development Programme (ADP) that sits alongside the apprenticeship standard, as well as outreach events at schools.
